Art museums, design museums and museums of craft fulfil a significant function in this regard, and the New Carlsberg Foundation therefore supports museums in their efforts to acquire art for their collections, partly by funding acquisitions and partly by donating works from the Foundation’s own acquisitions.
Danish museums may apply for funding to support the acquisition of artworks, or they may apply to receive artworks from the New Carlsberg Foundation’s acquisitions as donations.
International museums may apply for funding to support the acquisition of artworks by Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese artists, or they may apply to receive donated works by Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese artists from the New Carlsberg Foundation’s acquisitions.
The programmes are intended equally for art museums, design museums and museums of craft.
Upcoming application deadlines: 18 December 2026, 26 February 2027, 5 July 2027, and 13 September 2027.
