The Museum of Art Brundlund Castle has acquired three new paintings by the Danish artist Søren Behncke. The paintings are inspired by material from the museum’s large Franciska Clausen archive and sheds new light on the museum collection.

The collage If Balance Stops and Asks Why, Balance Will Die (2006) is a principal work in Kirstine Roepstorff’s oeuvre. It depicts a female juggler in a tension between balance and imbalance. With support from the New Carlsberg Foundation, the Trapholt Museum of Modern Art and Design has now added the piece to its permanent collection.

Rose Eken’s sprawling installation Aftermath, with its aesthetic of decay, consists of a myriad of objects littering the ground after a rock concert. With support from the New Carlsberg foundation, the 1967 ceramic components are now included in the permanent collection of Horsens Art Museum.

With support from the New Carlsberg Foundation ARKEN has acquired a work by the Australian artist Patricia Piccinini that challenges the boundary between the natural and the cultural.

With support from the New Carlsberg Foundation, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art has acquired one of William Kentridge’s absolute principal works. Black Box / Chambre Noire represents a significant shift in the artist’s life’s work and is now part of Louisiana’s permanent collection.

With support from the New Carlsberg Foundation, among other sources, the Hirschsprung Collection can now add a late work by one of the most pre-eminent artists of Denmark’s Golden Age to its collection.

Portrait of a Boy by the Danish-French impressionist Camille Pissarro is a unique piece in Danish art history. With support from the New Carlsberg Foundation, among others, Ordrupgaard has been able to purchase this early painting by the artist.

With a donation from the New Carlsberg Foundation, Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg has expanded its Asger Jorn collection with an important, never-auctioned piece.

With a grant from the New Carlsberg Foundation, the Royal Danish Library now adds 14 selected works by the artist Trine Søndergaard to its collection. The works will be included in a permanent exhibition of photographs from the collection of the National Museum of Photography that opens in 2020.

The Guggenheim Museum in New York has received support from the New Carlsberg Foundation to purchase an iconic work by the Danish-Vietnamese artist Danh Vo. The work is part of the artist’s sculptural project We the People (detail).

The Kunsten art museum in Aalborg has acquired a work of art that does not exist as a physical object. Instead it is a so-called ‘constructed situation’ by the German artist, Tino Sehgal, whose works have made a great impact on audiences throughout the world.

With support from the New Carlsberg Foundation, the J.F. Willumsen Museum adds a bloody painting by J. F. Willumsen to its collection.

Kristian Zahrtmann has a principal position in the collection strategy of Fuglsang Kunstmuseum (Fuglsang Art Museum). A donation from the New Carlsberg Foundation now enables the museum to add the small painting Leonora Christina i Maribo Kloster (Leonora Christina at Maribo Abbey) (1914) from the artist’s late period to its collection.

It is rare for Tal R to express himself in a monumental format, but in his new series Habakuk (Habakkuk), he does just that. One of the paintings in the suite now goes to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art north of Copenhagen.

The world-renowned artist Jean-Marc Bustamante’s enigmatic photographs leave room for the imagination and storytelling but never lend themselves to simplistic interpretations. Now his large piece Amazone T.C.B 1.02 is added to the collection at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.

For nine years, the Danish art photographer Peter Funch has visited the same spot on one of the main streets of New York, documenting the passers-by. The New Carlsberg Foundation now secures a selection of the photo series 42nd and Vanderbilt for the V&A, the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London.
