The New Carlsberg Foundation supports original and visionary ideas for high-quality art projects that have a close affinity with the foundation’s purpose and charter.

Applications that fall within the foundation’s other application categories cannot be submitted in this category.

Who can apply?

Museums, art centres, public and private institutions, companies, publishers and associations.

Kindly note, that no support is provided for 

  • Artists’ production of works
  • Study trips
  • Exhibitions
  • The Danish art academies' graduation exhibitions
  • Film productions.

Application deadline

There are two annual application deadlines for this grant.

Application process

  1. Applications must be submitted via the Foundation’s online system.
  2. The Board assesses the applications received.
  3. The applications are either approved (yielding partial or full support) or declined.
  4. The applicant receives notification of the result through the foundation’s online system.

Criteria

The New Carlsberg Foundation puts emphasis on the following aspects:

  • the applicant must present a compelling argument, describing their vision behind the project for which support is sought.
  • the project must be anchored in the field of art and have contemporary relevance.
  • the purpose must fall outside the scope of the foundation’s other application categories.

What can be funded under this scheme?

Applicants can apply for support for high-quality projects within the field of art that are closely related to the foundation’s charter and which fall outside the scope of the foundation’s other application categories.

The application must include:

Applications that do not meet the requirements below will not be processed.

  • One PDF file of max. 10 pages
    All application material must be compiled and submitted as one single PDF file of no more than 10 pages.

The (maximum) 10 pages must include:

  • A comprehensive project description outlining the purpose and explaining its relevance. Max. 2 pages.
  • Budget and financing plan showing how funds for the project will be secured. Include the New Carlsberg Foundation, but also self-financing and any other named foundations that have been or are planned to be approached.
  • In accordance with the above: Clear financial specification of what is being applied for from the New Carlsberg Foundation.
  • CV for the applicant – max. 1 page.
  • Optional visual material and additional appendices – max. 5 pages.
