About Sanne Kofod Olsen
Sanne Kofod Olsen (1970) holds a cand.phil. and MA in Art History from the University of Copenhagen, as well as a MA in Management Development from CBS. She is the Vice-Chancellor of the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
Sanne Kofod Olsen has researched Danish and international art from the 1960s to the present, with a particular focus on American feminist art. Her research includes a practice-based approach through curation and has amongst other things included a research project on the collection and dissemination of ephemeral art. Today, the focus is on art education programmes based on institutionalism.
Sanne Kofod Olsen has worked with the management of art education programmes in Denmark and Sweden since 2005. From 2005-2009 as rector of the Funen Art Academy, in Odense and 2014-2018 as rector of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' Schools of Visual Arts, and as dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Gothenburg in the years 2018-22. Since 2022 she has been Vice-Chancellor of the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
Sanne Kofod Olsen has been involved in teaching, curation and research, both as an external lecturer at the University of Copenhagen and as director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde (2009-14). Since the mid-1990s, she has curated numerous exhibitions and written about Danish and international contemporary art. She has experience as a censor for art history at the University of Copenhagen and Aarhus University and has been active on several boards, committees and councils.
