In recent years, the two speakers have both caused a stir around the world; Olafur Eliasson for his spectacular works of art in public spaces around the world, and Lene Hau for her landmark research achievements at Harvard University.
Light has been the at the heart of some of Olafur Eliasson’s most remarkable works. In addition, he is one of the key figures behind the social business Little Sun, which produces and distributes solar-powered lamps and mobile phone chargers as a way of making sustainable energy available to some of the 1.1 billion people world-wide who live without electricity.
Lene Hau first captured global attention in 1999, when she and her research team managed to slow a pulse of light from 300,000 km/second to 17 m/second. Only two years later, she drew headlines once again when she was able to stop a light pulse completely and trap it.
The evening is rounded off with light refreshments at Studio 1, DR Koncerthuset.
